A Life Saved Because an AED Was Within Reach

"During a friendly basketball game between employees and customers at Robertson Heating Supply, what started as a normal evening quickly turned into a life-threatening emergency. One of the players began experiencing shortness of breath and stepped off the court to sit down. Moments later, he collapsed and became unconscious. Employees immediately sprang into action. While one person called 911, another rushed across the warehouse to retrieve their Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Using a nearby golf cart, the employee quickly brought the AED to the scene. Following the device’s voice prompts, the employee delivered a shock before emergency responders arrived. When EMTs took over, they confirmed what everyone hoped — the quick use of the AED had saved the customer’s life. The AED was later taken to the hospital with the patient, where doctors were able to review the data stored on the device and confirm the life-saving intervention. To this day, the customer continues to thank the team for having an AED available when it mattered most."
